Jamie broke his nose in high school. Before a baseball game, during warm-ups, the outfielder threw the ball high in the air so that Jamie could catch it at third base. But Jamie lost sight of the ball and it bounced straight on his nose and then directly straight back up in the air about eight to ten feet. A “crack” noise could be heard all the way in the stands.

Brain Book
7/18/10

After a busy week of vacation, it was a little overwhelming coming back to Kansas City and looking towards the next 12 weeks. While on my trip up to North Carolina, I decided I needed to get a little bit more organized. Having notes on random scraps of paper, Outlook and Evernote are great but not really helpful when I want to look at everything at once. So...I decided I needed one notebook in which I could just dump all my thoughts and to-do’s: work, wedding, Cycling For Change (C4C), moving, and of course, trying to sell the house. I call this notebook the “Brain Book.”

Last week, I got a 90-minute massage (thank you, Groupon) and it took about 30 minutes before my mind shut off and just started to relax. Had I not had the "Brain Book" I think it may have taken about an hour before my mind shut off. I have found that putting things in the book for a future date allows me to not have to think about that task until that date comes up. Also, if I forget what else needs to be done, I have everything in one location. (I had a tendency for losing my little sheets of paper and finding them long after deadlines are over.)

Now that I feel my life is slightly more organized, I'm looking forward to the next few weeks starting with this weekend. C4C will hit their halfway mark as they make their way through Kansas City this weekend. They rolled in Saturday afternoon with festivities at Rockhurst University and then had an event planned that evening at the Airline Museum downtown. The weekend was wonderful as I got to spend time with great friends and their amazing families.

Since I was busy enjoying my weekend I did not get anything of my "weekend to-do’s" done. That means this week will be spent working on packing the kitchen, the upstairs and cleaning the fridge. Now that Jamie and I have a "moving" game plan - the crunch is on to get everything packed. Thirty-three days and counting until the big move to Denver!
