About four years ago, Jamie had a party over his birthday weekend, which he shared with a friend. I can clearly recall us standing at the dog park (in the FREEZING weather) hanging out and chatting while our dogs played. We were the only two people at the dog park, but neither of us seemed to mind. Finally, it was time to go home and thaw. As were wrangling the dogs, here is how our conversation went: Jamie: What are your plans for the weekend? Sabrina: Oh! I'm having a party, do you want to come over? Jamie: Oh. I'm having a party as well for my birthday...I was hoping you could come over. Maybe after? Sabrina: Well, the party is at my house, so I doubt that would happen. (Conversation drifts into other topics. We head to the car.) Jamie: Well, I'll give you my number so that if you can make it, just call me. Sabrina (mind racing): Why don't you just call my phone, and then I'll have your number and you'll have mine. Sabrina (thinking): That's right...I got digits. Neither one of us made it to the other's party that night, but the next day I got a call from Jamie asking to see if I was going to go to the dog park. I called him back right away (much to his surprise) to let him know that I wouldn't be there, at which point he asked me out for lunch that week. Our first day "date" was at the Kona Grill. Afterwards, I treated him to Foo's (which I believe led him to ask me out again;). Four years later, celebrated Jamie's birthday with good friends and good food. - Sabrina
