As were signing the papers for our photographer, they kept trying to sell us on the albums that they make. While the albums are BEAUTIFUL, the price tag was astronomical. The photographer was our "splurge" item for the wedding, and paying that much more for an album just seemed a little crazy. Their line to us was "Well, you don't want it looking like you went to Hobby Lobby, do you?" That comment rubbed me the wrong way...there are MANY MANY talented people out there that put together amazing projects, and he just grouped everybody into the "4th grade art project" category. As we left, I promised that I would figure out a cheaper and better way of making a great wedding album that did not force me to have to sell my kidney on the black market. In January, I was putzing around the Paper-Source using up a Christmas gift card and buying random items for the wedding when I saw their upcoming workshops. Turns out that they were going to be making photo albums during their Book Binding workshop! Woohoo! I took the class this afternoon and happy to report that our wedding photo album cost $60 (plus printing the pictures). Also, it will be personalized to match the invitations.
